Being a good classmate (Reading and Writing Activity)

Imagen
It's important to be a good classmate, but how do we do that? Let's practice reading and writing in English while learning some important values for the classroom.  Start out with a print out of the reading on LearnEnglishKids and then have students try the comprehension quiz below the text: Being a good classmate I recommend doing the quiz as a whole class and where the students have to lift up a miniboard or piece of paper with their answer to each question (A,B, or C) to make it more engaging. In the same link there are two interactive multiple choice games to practice reading skills and to gain a better understanding of the text.   To finish, make a word cloud with your students in the shape of a student's head with all the words they would relate to being a "good classmate."  The use of dictionaries is welcome for this task.  Here is an example:  My example was done using  https://www.wordclouds.comm/   but you can do it online or on paper. My Bedroom (Listening and Reading Activity)

Imagen
Time to teach places and things in the house? Today's post is all about... my bedroom! Start off with a quick brainstorm with the students of things you usually find in a bedroom.  Everyone's ideas are valid. Your list might look something like:  bed, lamp, books, teddy, window, door   Now, hand out a blank sheet of paper to your students and tell them you're going to describe a bedroom to them. As they listen, they draw what they hear. At the end they can compare their pictures and see who's is the most accurate. You can also tick off the words on the board that they had brainstormed that appear in the picture. Don't forget to use prepositions of place to guide them. Here's an example picture from Google you could use: As a review the next day or to finish the lesson you can play this interactive board game where students work in teams to move across the game board. They must listen and choose the correct answer: ESL GAMES PLUS BEDROOM VOCAB

All About Me - Storyjumper (Writing Activity)

Imagen
Want to get to know your students better and also work on writing with the present simple?  Here's an activity to do with your student that will get them using the following structures: I have/haven't... I like/love/don't like... My favourite... I can/can't... It's so easy to create your own story on Storyjumper. Just edit my story and then use the prompts with your students to write their own!  Here's the link to the book:  All About Me Once your students have their information ready, they can make their own online book just like yours.  These books can be shared and downloaded and they can even add an audio of them reading the book. What a great tool to make writing practice more fun!

The Days of The Week! (Speaking Activity)

Imagen
This is a three part activity to practice speaking in your young learner's classroom, focusing on the days of the week. First, use gestures and ask the students: How many days are there in the week?  There are 7 days in the week!    Now, watch the video by Dream English, do the movements, and sing along together! 😄😄 What great singing! As a variation, have students practice in groups and then have them perform the song for the rest of the class. For the second part of the activity, have students practice questions 1-5 with a partner.  Use the prompts on the right to help them answer the questions.  As a follow up activity another day, do the activity again but cover/erase the prompts or the words in green and see if the students can remember them.   Have the days of the week on the board or written in the children's notebooks: Finally, on the electronic whiteboard use this prompt to practice using the days of the week in questions and giving s...
